    Every composer branch keeps the owner's words.

    The live defect (2026-10-13): three consecutive steers typed against a “queued position 3/3” target vanished on Enter — no echo, no pending chip, no store entry, composer cleared. The 409 queue-cap branch read an undeclared binding, threw into the catch after dropping the optimistic echo, and the catch cleared the composer.

    The fix: the refusal keeps the message as a durable ⚠ error chip with Retry; the composer empties only when the submitted text is durably rendered (echo alive or confirmed-into-DB tombstone) and never over a newer draft typed in flight; the catch names where the words are. Rig-proven: zero void windows under churn, API-down keeps the words, Retry delivers after recovery.
