Ends the install-target name duality (validation findings PFV-1/PFV-2 from the v1.36.0 round: an install inferred the SHORT dir from the restart script filename and forked a second live target).

  • install.sh ExecStart anchor: when a rendered unit exists, installing to a directory other than its ExecStart dir is REFUSED (exit 3) before anything is written; --allow-target-change marks the deliberate repoint.
  • Short-name target warning: a target basename of exactly zcode-observatory earns a loud stderr warning naming the canonical target.
  • Stale-sibling warning: after install, a populated short-name sibling beside the target is reported loudly.
  • README: new one-canonical-target section (file names vs install dirs, the restart-script filename clarification), install-triple + sibling verification recipe, release URL bumped.
  • Tests: tests/test_install_guard.py — 8 hermetic fake-HOME rigs executing the real install.sh (--no-unit --no-bin, XDG_CONFIG_HOME redirected, no real installs); test_station_units pins the flag docs. Suite: 326 green.
  • Version: v1.37.0.
Ends the install-target name duality (validation findings PFV-1/PFV-2 from the v1.36.0 round: an install inferred the SHORT dir from the restart script filename and forked a second live target). - **install.sh ExecStart anchor**: when a rendered unit exists, installing to a directory other than its ExecStart dir is REFUSED (exit 3) before anything is written; `--allow-target-change` marks the deliberate repoint. - **Short-name target warning**: a target basename of exactly `zcode-observatory` earns a loud stderr warning naming the canonical target. - **Stale-sibling warning**: after install, a populated short-name sibling beside the target is reported loudly. - **README**: new one-canonical-target section (file names vs install dirs, the restart-script filename clarification), install-triple + sibling verification recipe, release URL bumped. - **Tests**: tests/test_install_guard.py — 8 hermetic fake-HOME rigs executing the real install.sh (--no-unit --no-bin, XDG_CONFIG_HOME redirected, no real installs); test_station_units pins the flag docs. Suite: 326 green. - **Version**: v1.37.0.
The v1.36.0 station install forked a second live target by inferring the
short name (~/tools/zcode-observatory) from the restart script's
filename. install.sh now refuses (exit 3) to install to a directory other
than the rendered unit's ExecStart dir unless --allow-target-change marks
the repoint deliberate, warns on a short-name target basename, and warns
after install when a populated short-name sibling exists. README gains
the one-canonical-target section (file names vs install dirs), the
install-triple + sibling verification recipe, and the release URL bumps
to v1.37.0; SERVER_VERSION follows. New tests/test_install_guard.py
executes the real install.sh in fake-HOME rigs (8 cases, hermetic:
--no-unit --no-bin + XDG_CONFIG_HOME redirect); test_station_units pins
the flag documentation.
Pinky GG fix: install-guard rig PATH carries the interpreter dir first

The CI image keeps python3 in /usr/local/bin — the hard-coded
/usr/bin:/bin rig PATH made install.sh's py_compile exit 127 there
(station passed because /usr/bin/python3 exists). Prepend the dir of
the running interpreter atop the inherited PATH; hermeticity is
unchanged (--no-unit --no-bin, XDG_CONFIG_HOME redirected, nothing
writes outside the rig).
